Is it safe from birth?

Yes. The Gentle Oat Wash is formulated specifically for young, sensitive skin and is safe to use from birth. It is soap-free, SLS-free and fragrance-free, with no parabens or harsh preservatives. The formula is based on sunflower oil, oat extract and oat oil, which are well-tolerated by sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

Can I use it alongside prescribed treatment?

Yes. The Gentle Oat Wash is a rinse-off cleanser, not a medicine, and does not interfere with any prescribed topical treatment your GP or dermatologist has recommended. Apply prescribed creams or ointments after bathing and drying, once the skin is clean. How is it different from other baby washes?

Most baby washes contain surfactants like SLS that can strip the skin’s natural oils. The Ovée Oat Wash is sulphate-free and soap-free — it cleanses gently using sugar-derived surfactants and sunflower oil, with oat extract and oat oil, all of which are well-tolerated by sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

It was developed by Dr Tim Clayton, Consultant Paediatric Dermatologist, based on what he recommends to parents in clinic for children who need a gentle daily wash.

Does it contain soap, SLS or fragrance?

No. The Gentle Oat Wash is soap-free, SLS-free, fragrance-free and paraben-free, with 99% natural ingredients, including sunflower oil, oat extract and oat oil. It is suitable from birth and dermatologically tested. The full ingredients list is further down this page.

Is Ovée available on NHS prescription?

No. Ovée is a cosmetic range sold directly from this site, not a prescription medicine, so it is not available on the NHS. How often should I bath a baby with eczema-prone skin?

Keep baths to 5–10 minutes in lukewarm rather than hot water, no more than once a day. Long or frequent baths strip the skin's natural oils and make dryness worse. Pat the skin dry and apply moisturiser within a few minutes, while the skin is still slightly damp.
